Alohar Mobile launched a new app called PlaceUs that gives contextually aware location information to a user’s small group of family and friends, according to a story at Gigaom.

This isn’t the first mobile app Alohar has concocted that uses the sensors on an iPhone, like the accelerometer, to gather information on where a consumer is located. PlaceMe, the app that came first, uses this data to get to know the habits of the mobile user in hopes of adding convenience to the user’s day, as well as finding relevant information to share with advertisers.

PlaceMe got some media attention for its privacy implications, but tried reassuring users that their data collected was secure. Now Alohar Mobile gives us PlaceUs. You can track your spouse, family and friends while understanding the context of their movements.
