Clustrix, a leading provider of scale-out relational database for cloud and data centers, has announced a new backend for Magento in order to enhance the availability, performance and scope of growth for online retailers. Named ClustrixDB for Magento, the replacement backend is a clubs together two of Clustrix’s major components – ClustrixDB and Clustrix Shadow (re)Indexer – that function in tandem to deliver outstanding results.

Lindsey Anderson, Vice President, Sales Clustrix, said in an official release, “ClustrixDB for Magento will help e-commerce companies stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market that’s seeing soaring social and mobile sales, rising expectations for responsiveness and personalization, and novel business models.”

ClustrixDB is the first database developed with the capability to scale-out in order to meet the scalability required by enterprises for their web applications’ high-value high-transaction workloads. It is available as a ready-for-use replacement for databases that are built on MySQL and power almost all Magento-based ecommerce sites. It can accommodate five times as much traffic as a regular Magento site can. Its Flex feature allows enterprises to increase the number of nodes or servers during seasonal peak hours within a matter of minutes. The system can be scaled easily after the traffic becomes normal again.

The other major component, Clustrix Shadow (re)Indexer, prevents downtime by enabling businesses to update their online retail catalogs without switching their systems offline. It significantly reduces the load on CPU in comparison to regular Magento indexers. Both the components are available in both Enterprise and Community version of ClustrixDB for Magento.

The solution also offers real-time ecommerce business performance reporting and seamless integration with other technology stack components in order to facilitate easy, quick and cost-effective resolution of backend issues.
