Clustrix, provider of the first scale-out relational database designed to meet the high-volume online transaction needs of e-commerce and other web applications, today announced the appointment of Charles Carmel and Shawn Douglass to the company’s board, as well as the hiring of Lindsey Anderson as vice president of sales.

Charles Carmel brings to the Clustrix board nearly 20 years experience in private equity, venture capital, corporate development and investment banking, with a deep expertise in enterprise IT and communications technology software, infrastructure and services. Carmel was most recently a partner and managing director at Warburg Pincus.  Prior to Warburg, Carmel spent 10 years at Cisco where he led worldwide acquisition and venture capital strategy and earlier in his career he worked as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs.

Carmel is impressed with the Clustrix’s disruptive technology and has been following the company’s progress for several years. He now looks forward to adding his perspective to Clustrix’s leadership over the company’s next phases of growth.

Shawn Douglass is a corporate strategist who brings to the Clustrix board a decade of experience in developing scale-out databases. Douglass draws insights from both the technical and business spheres. His career has taken him through the technical ranks at companies including EMC and to the role of CTO/CSO at ServiceMesh and Unified Social where he contributed significantly to building the enterprise cloud operating model.

As an entrepreneur and CEO of a successful startup, Douglass finds both the strategic and technical differentiation offered by Clustrix’s products attractive, such as the unique ability to scale both ‘reads’ and ‘writes’ and to deploy in any cloud or data center.

Lindsey Anderson brings more than two decades experience in technology sales for both public and venture-backed organizations. Anderson offers to Clustrix a particular aptitude for assembling highly engaged sales teams that have consistently exceeded revenue goals. Anderson’s strong professional network bolsters Clustrix’s standing for building long-term relationships with strategic partners and clients. In recent years, Anderson has headed successful sales teams at WSO2, Software AG, and Progress Software.

Mike Azevedo, CEO of Clustrix, commented, “We’re pleased to welcome to our executive team a sales leader such as Anderson, who brings extensive experience and success in technology infrastructure sales, OEM, direct and channel; as well as global experience and success in small and large organizations. Carmel and Douglass are both experts in the space we occupy and are passionate about the value of the differentiating factors of our technology. They will be highly valuable in putting our technology in a broader context and offering more strategic leadership.

About joining the Clustrix team, Anderson comments, “Clustrix boasts stellar leadership that I am honored to join, as well as a product with amazing technology that is poised to fill a significant place in the market. That is not a combination one finds every day.”
